I think that I would have to agree with the pants. Our teams wear the shorts because of the temperatures hear in the Southeast. But I see many of the girls being tentative when sliding and diving in shorts. I believe the long pants would give the players more confidence when needing to make a slide.

Comfort and cool are primary considerations. We play in the deep south Mobile, AL and cool is important especially later in the season. We wear long pants mostly for the protection when sliding, but also have shorts for those hot days. Soft material and racer back jerseys are popular.

our team colors are black and orange nice together. I think the cap sleeves are great because the girls don’t have to buy the racer back bras. Parents have to fork out enuf $$. W/out having to buy special under garments too! Just my $.02.

Our organizatiom uses Alleson Athletic unforms (Black set and a red set) 553W Women’s Softball racerback sleeveless(dazzle fabric) along with Speedline pants(drawstring low rise knicker length) that are used sometimes instead of shorts. We also use pear sox since the all sports style stays up well. My daughter has used moisture mgmt fabric styles in the past, but they aren’t much cooler, and they snag on the bat bag’s velcro too easily.

My high school team’s uniform is kind of like a basketball jersey but it looks real nice and feels comftorable. it’s always hot so the air holes (or whatever they’re called) help keep us cool. With it comes shorts, and i’m not a big shorts fan) but these are nice. Plus the shirt and shorts are reversible. One side is Red with black writting and the other side is Black with red writting and they both look awsome. Plus they’re real easy to clean!!!

Well, as a coach I must agree on long pants. For me it’s an safety issue and the girls tend to slide more with long pants on. As for our uniform, I liked it. It was something way out there and not used to, but like it quickly. We had maroon pants with white/columbia stripes down the legs. Our shirts were the basic style maroon shortsleeve with black under armour. However, we changes it up for summer and used a columbia blue t-shirt because the season was really short and we had a bunch of new players. They looked AWESOME!

We live in northwestern WI, so the girls play in long pants, which they are more comfortable in sliding/diving etc in. We do have racer back tops that look awesome. The girls look put together as a team and with 12-13 year old girls that is important to them.

We have 2 uniforms and pants that go with each. This cuts back on laundry for back to back tournament days. I think they look more intimidating in the pants.

our girls 9/10 and 11/12 all-star teams both wore pants. several of the teams they played against wore shorts. after watching several different games with various umpires i am convinced our players got more low strikes called on them because the pants give a different image to the umpire. having done some umpiring i don’t believe this was intentional, just the result of a different image from behind the plate. as someone once said, just because i’m paranoid doesn’t mean they aren’t out to get me. next year i think we’ll wear shorts.

My team has two sets of uniforms. They are both racerback jerseys and shorts. We are navy, silver, and white. One uniform is silver with a white stripe down the side and navy pawprints (we are the lady lions) up the stripe. The other is navy with white stripe and silver pawprints up the stripe.
